CropTalk provides infield data collection, monitoring and remote control of production equipment systems. These systems utilize GPRS (cell phone) based communications and have a wide variety of compatible sensors for climate, soil moisture and system monitoring. In addition, the system has the ability for remote control (turning systems on and off). Some of the standard systems include: Weather, Soil Moisture, Frost Alert, Crop Storage, Vehicle Monitoring and Automated Irrigation.

croptalk-e (equipment)

is a scalable sensor data collection system that monitors infield sensors and communicates the information to the web.  The data is displayed in an easily understood table and graph format and has the capability of generating a text alert for frost protection or other user defined parameters.  The basic web display of raw data and up to 25 text messages per month is included with the purchase of a system.  The flexibility of the system allows a grower to start with a base unit and one sensor and later expand with up to an additional 40+ sensors as their needs grow.  There are multiple sensors available, ranging from monitoring climatic conditions to monitoring equipment operations and control.  CropTalk-E retail pricing starts at $1695 per system.

croptalk-c (communications)

is the GPRS communications (cell phone) service plan that is a necessary component for the grower to receive communications from CropTalk-E.  The advantage of CropTalk-C over other GPRS carriers is that it offers flexible contracting options for 4, 8 or 12 months, allowing a grower to pay for communications services only during the months needed.  Other independent GPRS carriers require the grower to subscribe for a long term contract increasing the overal operational cost of a system.  Annual retail starts at $172.75 for 4 months of service.

croptalk-m (management)

is the Pessl web based pest, disease and irrigation management system.  Currently, models are available for Apples, Pears, Citrus, Sugar Beets, Canola, Sunflower, Wheat, Grapes, Potatoes, Tomatoes, Turf, Stone Fruit, Soybeans, Rice, Corn, Carrots, Onions, Asparagus, and Strawberries.  The raw data is collected via the CropTalk-E system and then is processed and available on the web through the web site where the grower can set text messaging notification parameters.  The annual retail is $125 per crop.
